Season Recap:
The 2009 squad was to have been led by a strong defense that returned 3 starting inside linebackers. By week 4, all three of those players were lost for the season due to injury. Those injuries and a relatively young offense made winning difficult for the Bucks. The Bucks first game foreshadowed the lack of good fortune the ’09 squad would have. The Bucks scored on their first play from scrimmage against Kalkaska, only to have it called back by a block in the back many yards behind the ball. The Bucks would lose that game by the score of 8-0. The second game against Benzie Central was also a nail bitter, but again the Bucks lost, this time 14-0. The Bucks lost the next two games by large margins before heading into homecoming versus Manton. Despite a hard fought game, the Rangers managed a touchdown late in the 4th quarter in order to beat the Bucks by the score of 20-14. The Bucks lone win would come the following week when they traveled to Marion. The offense came alive and the Bucks won 24-13. The Bucks couldn’t keep the momentum rolling and lost their last three games with the finale at home being a 6-0 loss to Hart. While the 2009 squad didn’t catch many breaks, they were a very hard working group who battled all season long.
