The Bucks started out the ’85 season with a 14-6 loss to rival Reed City. After a loss to Benzie Central, PR got back into the win column with a victory over McBain. Matt LaGrow had a big night in the 35-12 Bucks victory. LaGrow was 5 for 5 passing and had a passing and rushing touchdown. Rob Wing and Doug Warner led the defense. Wing hauled in 2 interceptions and Warner led the Bucks in tackles with 12. The Bucks then lost three straight including a 4 point loss to Marion and an 11 point loss to Evart. In the Evart contest, Steve Detoloff’s hauled in 8 receptions for 75 yards and kicked a 28 yard field goal. Unfortunately, those would be the Buck’s only points as Pine River lost 14-3. Pine River bounced back and beat lake City the next week on homecoming by a score of 6-0. Matt LaGrow threw a 27 yard pass to Steve Dettloff for the games only score. Lee Wilson led the defense with 15 tackles and was helped out by Darin Holmes who had 11 tackles and an interception. The Buck picked up a convincing win over Manton in week 8 before losing 20-30 to Mason County Central to close out the season.
