Season Recap:
The 1979 team started the year with only 18 players. By weel 8 they only had 13 health players left and the Bucks were forced to cancel their last two games. The Bucks opened the season with a four point loss to Suttons Bay. Q.B. Mike Gamble had a nice game throwing two touchdown passes and putting up 160 passing yards. The Bucks hit a wall after that game and failed to even score in the next five games. The Bucks got a big win in week 7 though. They defeated Lake City 16-7 to chalk up their lone1 win. Eric Lockhart scored on runs of 89 yards and 9 yards. However, George Salisbury lead the team in rushing with 142 yards. Mike Bernth, Mike Moore, Scott Raven, Jim Hastings, Jim Fulks, and Brent Peterson all had 10 tackles in that game. That would be the Bucks final game. Pine River’s A.D. Ted Raven said: “Presently we have a limited number of healthy players and for safety purposes we felt we could not compete in the last two games”
